Director of Drug Discovery

About – This role will lead drug discovery projects for small molecule therapeutics for an innovative company with a broad portfolio of projects in several therapeutic areas.

Duties

• Lead the strategic direction for drug discovery projects for a broad portfolio of therapeutic areas including oncology, CNS and immunology.
• Advance drug discovery projects from target selection and validation to lead identification and optimisation.
• Clearly present data to and communicate effectively with both internal and external partners.
• Manage a small team of scientists to deliver on project objectives.
• Stay up to date with scientific literature.

Experience

• PhD in Biology, Biochemistry or other relevant field.
• Over 6 years of experience in industry focused on small molecule drug discovery (from target identification to lead optimisation).
• Previous experience managing and mentoring junior scientists to deliver on project objectives.
• Proven track record of publications and presentations.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
