Our client is a leading innovator in the biotech sector, operating internationally with a strong focus on sustainable pharmaceutical production. With over 130 employees across sites in Northern Germany and North America, the company develops and manufactures cutting-edge cancer therapies using state-of-the-art biotechnological processes. Their production site near Hamburg is home to one of the largest plant-cell culture fermentation facilities in the world, and they are currently undergoing major expansion and modernization.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Automation Engineer/Technician, you will play a central role in the setup and operation of advanced automation systems within a GMP-compliant pharmaceutical environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the installation, qualification, and commissioning of automation systems (e.g., fermenters, purification units, utility systems, and cleanroom areas).
  • Preparing and approving technical documentation, system schematics, and planning materials.
  • Acting as a liaison between internal teams and external partners to drive project success.
  • Supporting and maintaining process control systems and computer-based automation infrastructure to ensure reliable, compliant operations.
  • Participating in the on-call rotation to provide technical support for critical systems.

Requirements:

We’re seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented automation expert with a strong background in regulated environments. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A technical qualification in energy/process automation or a degree in electrical or automation engineering (or similar).
  • Several years of experience with industrial control systems, ideally including PLCs (Simatic S5/S7, TIA Portal), WinCC, and PCS7.
  • A successful track record of executing automation projects in the pharmaceutical, food, chemical, or plant engineering sectors.
  • Experience working in GMP-compliant environments (preferred).
  • Fluency in German and English
